AIDEN WINS "BOOK THE BAND"

The up-and-coming goth punk rock group AIDEN has won the "Book the Band" Virgin Festival by Virgin Mobile contest after over one million votes were cast. They beat out Cold War Kids, Mute Math, Say Anything, and The Higher to win and get to open the 2007 Virgin Festival by Virgin Mobile. Check out the results of the contest, voter standings, and information about all of the bands HERE.

Taking place over two days (August 4 & 5) at Baltimore's historic Pimlico Race Course, Virgin Festival By Virgin Mobile features a roster of over 40 bands and deejays across two stages and a dance tent, as well as countless other entertainment and attractions. AIDEN will kick off its set at 12 noon on Sunday, August 5, as that day's opener.

"To say we're excited to play Virgin Festival By Virgin Mobile is an understatement, given the caliber of such acts as The Police, Smashing Pumpkins and Wu-Tang Clan who are performing," says "wiL" of AIDEN. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to bring our music to a huge number of people at a terrific new venue, and proceed to kick some ass."

FIRST LOOK: LG "ALOHA"

The LG "Aloha" is a new phone that will be coming out for Virgin Mobile, and this is the first LG phone for here in the USA. It is a lower-end phone, most comparable to the Kyocera "Marbl" or "Oystr". No camera, no bluetooth, but it does have access to VXL, superphonic ringtones, an internal antenna, speakerphone, just everything you need. I'm not too sure that I like the name, but it's no big deal.

I really like the sleek design of the phone, but I'm a little disappointed that there's no external screen. Virgin Mobile doesn't really like to include external screens on their lower-end phones, both the "Oystr" and "Marbl" don't have one, and it appears the "Aloha" will be no exception. I know an external screen would make the phone more expensive, but i'm just kinda turned off that you have to open the phone to see who's calling.
