MESSAGING FEATURES AVAILABILITY

With the release last month of the new cross-messaging packs as well as support for Yahoo! services, there seems to be a lot of confusion as to which services are available on what phones. With a messaging pack you get Text, Pix, IM, and Mobile Email for as low as 1¢ per message, depending on what plan you're on. But not every service is available on every phone.

So here's the break down on who can get what:

*The Audiovox "Flasher V7" supports both Text and Pix messaging
*In addition to Text and Pix, the UTStarcom "Snapper" supports IM (both AOL and Yahoo!) ONLY

GET RINGTONES/GRAPHICS FROM JAMSTER

Sick of the prices or selection available on VXL? Virgin Mobile customers can now download ringtones/graphics from JAMSTER.COM. There are two plans to take advantage of here, for $5.99/month you get 2 ringtones and 3 graphics, or for $9.99/month you get 6 ringtones and 10 graphics, and of course you can cancel at any time. And expect other providers to be able to deliver content to you phone within the next few months. Jamster was a test pilot for the program, where Virgin Mobile opened up access to other content providers besides their own VXL service.

STASH CARD DISCONTINUED

Alas, not every good idea works out in the long run. Virgin Mobile is discontinuing its Stash prepaid Visa debit card. The card was launched last summer as a way for VM's youth market to be more empowered with spending options, as well as being able to earn airtime in the process. While it seemed like a good idea at the time, every $1 spent = 1 point, when you realize you need 500 points to get $4.50 in airtime, things start to go downhill. Also, with transaction fees as high as $1 a swipe, its no surprise that Stash simply fizzled.

If you currently have a Stash card, here's some important dates you need to know:
*New funds cannot be loaded onto the card past May 1st, 2007
*Purchases can still be made on the card until September 1st, 2007
*All balances left after September 1st, 2007 will be refunded via check
*Reward points need to be redeemed by September 11th, 2007
